Rosalyn's Story: A Journey of Redemption
Rosalyn Masterson | The Story Behind Cocoa The Healing Center
My journey has been shaped by hardship, loss, forgiveness, and redemption. Through experiences of being orphaned and feeling ostracized by my family of origin, particularly after losing my protector, I spent years searching for love and acceptance. After facing difficult circumstances and reaching the limits of my own strength, I learned the importance of surrender and discovered the transformative power of love and redemption.
These experiences inspired me to write The Storm Is Over and ultimately create Cocoa The Healing Center LLC. Today, my purpose is to share what I have learned and guide other women through their own journeys of personal growth, healing, and transformation.
Speaking From Lived Experience
Through my speaking engagements, I share my personal journey and the lessons I have learned about addiction, incarceration, forgiveness, accountability, and redemption. I welcome opportunities to connect with organizations and communities, sharing my experiences and message of personal growth and transformation.
My Mission
My mission is to support women, particularly women of color facing cycles of addiction and recidivism, through honesty, forgiveness, accountability, redemption, and personal growth.
My Vision
My vision is to reach more women and connect with organizations that support individuals returning to their communities, sharing my lived experience and eight-week curriculum to encourage healing and transformation.
My Eight-Week Journey to Healing
My curriculum is structured around eight principles that guide women through the stages of personal change, from honesty and acceptance to redemption and healing.
Honesty
Understanding honesty as the willingness to face and acknowledge the truth about ourselves, our experiences, our choices, and our emotions without hiding or minimizing them.
Openness
Learning to become open to truth, new perspectives, healing, and the possibility that there is more to our story than what we have previously believed.
Willingness
Willingness is the choice to participate in the process. It is being willing to look within, listen, learn, forgive, and take the next step- even when it is uncomfortable.
Acceptance
Acceptance is not saying that everything that happened was okay. It is acknowledging reality so that we can stop fighting what has already happened and begin healing from it.
Forgiveness
Exploring what forgiveness truly means, what it does not mean, and how releasing resentment can create room for healing and restoration.
Accountability
Learning to recognize our own choices and responsibilities without carrying shame from everything that happened to us or blaming others for everything that happens afterward.
Redemption
Understanding that painful experiences do not have to be the end of the story. Redemption allows what was broken to become part of a greater testimony of healing, and purpose.
Healing
Learning to recognize our own choices and responsibilities without carrying shame from everything that happened to us or blaming others for everything that happens afterward.
